Whatever you want to experience in Utah, from hiking in national parks to touring Temple Square, you’ll get it done. Weather conditions in Utah allow for a longer peak season compared to the northern and southern US states. We were in May (midday temperatures of 75 – 95° F with clear skies), at the end of October (midday temperatures of 65° F and beautiful fall colors and small crowds in Zion), at the beginning of November (we had a bit of everything from high temperatures in the 70s to snow, all in the same week) and at the end of December (freezing weather temperatures, snow, but a little small crowd, even if it’s a vacation week). Not only will you visit 6 national parks, but you’ll also visit Monument Valley, Antelope Canyon, and off the beaten path destinations in Utah.

Please let us know if you have any questions about any of these Utah itineraries or anything else related to Utah’s Mighty 5 National Parks. The World Travel Guide (WTG) is the flagship digital consumer brand within the Columbus Travel Media portfolio. If you’re traveling through Utah (i.e. from Nevada to Colorado), you can reach the national parks in an easy direction without wasting time driving. If you’re planning to head to Utah from there, make sure your car (and everyone in it) is ready and prepared with this road trip packing list.

Arches is less than 5 miles from Moab, which is the best place to set up a base for a few days in Southeast Utah. Unless you live within a few hours of driving from Utah or are on a huge US road trip, you’ll likely need to fly from further afield into the region and rent a car. It covers every aspect from cities to airports, cruise ports to ski and beach resorts, attractions to events, and it also includes weekly travel information, features, and quizzes. If you only have a week to spare, here’s a whirlwind road trip through Utah to visit all five national parks.

Here’s an example of a Mighty 5 itinerary with more time spent in multiple national parks and the addition of several great state parks and hiking destinations in Utah. Salt Lake City International Airport is located 8 km (5 miles) northwest of Salt Lake City, in the US state of Utah.
